I love the classics—and I love genre
novels. So when I read the words “vampire
musketeers” I was hooked. Seriously, how could I not read a book about sword-wielding, honor-bound men that battle deadly,
vicious, blood-sucking monsters in an effort to protect the remaining human men
and women of their country?
The familiar phrase of “one for all and
all for one” takes on a new twist, but doesn’t change its strong, underlying
meaning. Porthos, Athos, Aramis and D’Artagnan prove their dedication to their
cause, and each other, many times over in their fight against the dark plague
spreading across Europe. These men understood that only by banding together and
fighting as one could they hope to stop the vampires from completely taking
over.
Action-packed scenes propel this
swashbuckling adventure forward on a tide of fear, horror and dark eroticism
that grabs the reader from the first page and never lets go. I thoroughly
enjoyed my trip through Ms. Marques’ alternate historical paranormal world—and I
can’t wait to visit it again!
